Review:
I used this site for 1 year and payed for Gold membership. And met several girls through the site. It works like this; if you pay you can contact anyone, and any member can read your messages and write you, because standard members can contact paying members. That is good unlike other dating sites where you pay, but if the ones you are interested in they can't read your mail or write you back unless they pay first. With Japan Cupid this problem doesn't occur.

I met my girlfriend through this site and before that several other girls that I met and dated. Two in Europe and 4 during one of my trips to Japan. Some of them are still friends. As most girls live in Japan at this site, it is almost necessary to vist Japan to meet most of them. There are some fake profiles, but that is perhaps 1 percent. Remember that Japanese need a delicate approach in order to get a reply!

I also had some fake "interests" in me from other countries but I chatted with Japanese women that were living in my area. My wife was in Tokyo when we got to know each other. So of course I say the site is "real" but has it's share of scam artists as well.

In short: The site is not a scam but...some of the profiles are.

Pros:
- When you pay, your messages can be read and replied by none paying members. For a year it costs € 10, - a month for, not to expensive for a good site and you can unlimited contact other members.

- Many members.

- Easy search at the site.

Cons:
Didn't experience any

Someone on the Internet said he sent 50 interents to women on the site but no one replied to him. I think that happened because he is not an attractive man at all. That's not because of JC or women...
Many guys on JC post unattractive pictures. I'm not talking about you are not handsome or something. I mean some of them are not smiling at all in the pics or some pictures are taken in messy rooms. Nobody wants to see someone who doesn't smile and go to dirty rooms to see boys.
You should care more about profile pictures. They are important if you really want to get to know women!
I sent about 40-50 Interests to girls (beautiful girls!) and I got about 20 mutual Interests. And... Japanese women are very fastidious - trust me! They are not Thai or Phill girls not at all - remember!...

  1. Do not show on time; be at least 15 minutes earlier. You may already know how Japanese are punctual and being on time. It does not matter for work or not. We are usually so punctual even just meeting with friends on weekends. I do not take my American friends who are five minutes late as a really “late” but most of my Japanese friends usually shows up at the place 10 to 15 minutes earlier than the time we actually decided to meet. Therefore I make sure that I will be there in 15 minutes earlier than the time to meet whenever I meet with Japanese friend.

  2. The JC site can be very tricky for beginners. Usually once a contact is initiated there will be quite a few letters written and finding out about each other. Of course many can write good English. Its probably not a good idea to ask direct questions like How long have you been on this site for? have you had some good dates?
There are some scammers who although saying they are attractive will not post images of themselves. Some say they don't know how to take photos with a phone!! I would avoid them. Some say its possible to meet up after 4-5 messages but I think it takes longer. Of course its then a coffee meeting, after a dinner and then Karaoke and then desserts, if you are lucky. I have only been on it for a month. Many in my age group are often divorced and want to get married and need support. Most are in Tokyo a few in Kansai and even fewer around Japan. Of course a few are after free English lessons or want to show off a gaijin boyfriend.

  3. I made contact with a girl on JapanCupid. Her name was Adelfa Boras Serrano. Shes from the Philippine's known as Adel on the site. Keep a close eye on this one. I was silly enough to send her some money, wasn't that much but still, a scam is a scam. I also purchased her a ticket to come to Australia as I had her send me her passport details. It was a picture of the main page and looked very real. Waited at the airport and she was a no show. As I was the one who purchased the ticket, I called the airline the following day and she didn't end up boarding the flight. As to my surprise, all contact ceased with her. Stopped taking my calls and replying to emails. As I earn very good money it wasn't a killer but just the fact that people go out of their way to steal from people on is disappointing. Watch out for her below. I was hoping to paste her photos and passport details but I cant paste this for some reason

  6. Opened a free account with this site, invested a lot of effort and time to build up my account with honest wording, description, real pictures etc.
Never tried anything illicit like trying somehow to pass a secret code with my info on it, illicit pictures upload, or a message to some member with rude or in any way inappropriate content.
My account was terminated a week later because I wouldn't pay for their overpriced monthly membership plans, although I sincerely considered it and was going to eventually pay for the membership but in the mean time decided to stay on free membership option until some kind of special price offer comes along (as they often do in other dating sites).
So, yes, terminated without any warning or reason given...
I recommend all honest true love seekers to stay away from this scamming and rude business.
